Lemnis Gate is the kind of shooter that asks for timing and planning more than reflexes alone, because each round feeds back into the next one. By our assessment, that rewind-and-repeat structure is the thing that makes it different, and it can produce clever moments when the two-minute loops line up well. The downside is that the whole design is demanding in a way that many players will feel immediately: it rewards patience, memory and a willingness to think several moves ahead. In practice that makes matches feel unusual, but also a little heavy compared with a straightforward arena shooter. Lemnis Gate sits in a narrow space between strategy and action, and it never quite hides how much work it wants from the player.
