Legendary

Legendary leans on the old first-person shooter formula, but it wraps that in fantasy monsters and a big supernatural disaster premise. By our assessment, it is strongest when it is throwing waves of creatures and spectacle at the player, because the setup gives the shooting a louder setting than a plain military corridor would. The weak point is that it never quite escapes the feel of an average shooter with a fantasy skin, so the ideas are more memorable than the actual play. In practice it is the sort of game that delivers familiar gunplay, linear progression, and lots of scripted chaos. Compared with the best shooters of its era, it sits in the middle: enough premise to stand out, not enough polish to dominate.
