Legend of Grimrock

Legend of Grimrock asks for old-fashioned attention: grid movement, wall-puzzle dungeons, and monsters that punish sloppy positioning more than fancy button work. By our assessment, that strict first-person dungeon crawl is exactly why it stands out, because every step matters and every room is a little problem to solve. The cost is that the game can feel unforgiving if you want modern hand-holding, fast travel, or lots of narrative padding. In practice it is all about mapping corridors, checking switches, and keeping the party alive while the dungeon keeps changing the rules on you. Against other RPGs it sits close to the classic dungeon crawler side, nearer to early computer role-playing games than to cinematic adventure. It suits players who enjoy notes, grids, and slow-burn discovery, and it will not charm people who want a relaxed tour. The ceiling is the same as the strength: once the pattern of its traps and puzzles is clear, the challenge becomes more methodical than mysterious.
