Lake

Lake asks for patience, not reflexes: it is a quiet driving-and-delivery game about taking mail around a small town and talking to people along the way. By our assessment, its best quality is the slow, ordinary rhythm of those routes, where the game lets scenery, small errands, and everyday conversations do the work. The downside is just as plain: if someone wants pressure, combat, or strong systems, this will feel thin. In practice it plays like a pleasant evening routine, with a light postal-job loop and a lot of downtime between stops. It sits well away from action-heavy open worlds and closer to narrative slice-of-life games, which is exactly where its value is. The players who will get the most from it are the ones happy to let a game be gentle and repetitive for a while, and the postal van does most of the talking.
