By our assessment, that arcade loop is exactly where it shines: the controls are simple, the pace is fast, and each failed attempt feeds the next one. The downside is that it is not trying to be broad or leisurely, so the appeal depends on whether that score-chasing loop feels good to the player. In practice it has the snap of an old arcade game dressed in a lighter, modern style. Compared with slower action games, Knightmare Tower is narrow but very clean in what it wants to do.
