Jagged Alliance Flashback

Jagged Alliance Flashback is a squad tactics game for players who like mercenaries, maps, cover, and careful turn-by-turn positioning. By our assessment, its best case is the same one that has always made Jagged Alliance interesting: managing a small group, planning fights, and living with imperfect weapons and imperfect odds. The downside is that Flashback sits in a crowded field of classic tactics games, and it has to earn its place against better-known entries in the series and sharper modern rivals. In practice this means lots of menu time, squad management, and fights that reward thought more than speed. It is not a fast action game, and it does not try to be one. People who want tactical ordering and mercenary bookkeeping may find it enough, while anyone expecting a clean blockbuster remake feel will probably look elsewhere.
