Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 V Generation is a remake-style JRPG for people already comfortable with the series’ self-aware, console-war-flavored joke world. By our assessment, its main strength is familiarity done in a very busy way: party combat, character chatter, dungeon runs, and the franchise’s trademark industry satire all sit on top of each other. The limit is also obvious, because the name is long, the lore is tangled, and the appeal depends heavily on liking the tone of the earlier games. In practice it is a lot of menus, repeated combat, and constant banter, so it asks for tolerance of visual-novel-style chatter inside a role-playing shell. Compared with cleaner modern RPGs, it is messier and more fan-facing, but that is the point of the series. It is for players who want Neptunia’s specific joke rhythm; for everyone else, the setup is busy before the battle even starts.
