Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising is remembered as a hybrid that mixes action, strategy, and salvage work into one odd little machine, which is exactly why it still stands out. By our assessment, its strongest point is the way it lets you command a carrier, direct drones, and keep pressure on the battlefield at the same time. The downside is that all that multitasking can feel busy, and the controls and camera ask for attention rather than letting the game play itself. In practice it has the texture of juggling several jobs under fire, with moments of careful control breaking up bursts of chaos. It sits between pure RTS and action game, not fully belonging to either camp. Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising is the sort of game to reach for when unusual structure matters more than neat genre boundaries.
