Homefront is a military shooter that leans on occupation, resistance, and street fighting rather than on toybox freedom or heavy simulation. By our assessment, its best idea is the blunt near-future setup and the pressure it puts on small-scale firefights in ruined urban spaces. The trade-off is that the game is remembered more for its premise than for a deeply polished campaign flow, so the execution matters more than the pitch and does not always outshine better shooters in the same lane. In play it tends to feel direct and kinetic, with little interest in elaborate systems beyond the shooting itself. Against big-name military shooters, it sits in the middle: recognisable, but not the cleanest or richest version of the formula. It suits players who want a straightforward campaign with a resistance angle, and it is less appealing if the standard is sharp gunfeel and memorable mission design.
