Homefront: The Revolution

Homefront: The Revolution is built around the fantasy of guerrilla resistance in an occupied city, and by our assessment its best idea is how much of the action comes from ambushes, scavenging, and cobbling together weapons from scraps. That makes it feel scrappier than a clean military shooter, with more emphasis on awkward improvisation than on power. The downside is that the game also wears its open-world structure and systems in a way that can feel familiar and a bit heavy, especially when the campaign leans on repetition. In play, it is about moving through districts, picking fights carefully, and treating every bit of gear as something assembled rather than handed over. Compared with polished big-budget shooters, it is rougher and less elegant, but that roughness is part of the pitch. Homefront: The Revolution works for players who like resistance stories and improvised combat, and it is less appealing if they want a tight shooter with no clutter.
