Holodrive

Holodrive looks like a fast shooter, and in use that is mostly what it is: quick movement, dodging, and aiming in short, hectic bursts. By our assessment, its appeal lies in the stripped-down pace and the arcade feel, where matches can be more about sharp reflexes than long planning. The downside of that kind of game is that it can run out of depth if the modes and map variety do not keep pace with the movement. In practice it asks for attention and timing, then gets out of the way and lets the screen do the work. It sits in the crowded space between arena shooters and lightweight action games, where style and momentum matter more than complexity. Holodrive is the sort of game people reach for when they want something brisk and direct, not a deep system to study.
