Hitman: Contracts

Hitman: Contracts is at its best when a level becomes a little machine of sightlines, disguises, and timing, because that is the heart of the Hitman formula. By our assessment, it is a clean fit for players who enjoy planning a quiet route, waiting for the right opening, and solving a mission more than surviving it. The downside is that it is strict about patience and repetition, and the older structure makes some scenes feel rougher than in later entries. In practice it is a stealth game of restraint: learn the map, read routines, step in, step out. Compared with louder action games, it asks for calm; compared with the more open modern Hitman titles, it is tighter and more old-school. The name is well known for that focused sandbox feeling, where the level matters as much as the target.
