Hiiro

Hiiro is hard to pin down from the outside, and that mismatch matters: the name suggests one thing, while the actual game is likely to be judged by how it handles play rather than by any big premise. By our assessment, the safest thing to say is that it belongs to the broad field of indie games where mood, style, and a compact idea do most of the work. The upside of that kind of game is focus; the downside is that if the central mechanic does not click, there is not much else to lean on. In practice these games tend to feel small, personal, and dependent on the player reading their rules quickly. Hiiro sits closer to a niche experience than to a broad crowd-pleaser. It is for players who like unusual indie projects, not for anyone wanting a big, settled genre package.
