Hatred

Hatred is remembered for putting mass shooting violence at the center and making that the entire pitch. By our assessment, that means it is a twin-stick-style action game for people who want shock value and a deliberately hostile tone more than variety or finesse. Its strongest trait is the bluntness of the premise, because it leaves no room to mistake what it is trying to do. The downside is obvious too: when the whole design is built around one grim idea, the experience can feel repetitive and thin once the novelty wears off. In practice it is all about moving, aiming, and cutting through crowds with very little texture beyond the premise itself. Hatred sits far outside the usual action-game middle ground, and it will only interest players who want provocation to be the main event.
