Halo Wars: Definitive Edition

Halo Wars: Definitive Edition is real-time strategy cut down to a console-friendly shape, and that makes it attractive to players who like commanding armies without wrestling a mouse-heavy interface. By our assessment, its best feature is how it translates Halo units, bases, and battlefield control into something that plays faster and simpler than many PC strategy games. The cost is depth: compared with larger strategy series, it is more streamlined and less open-ended, so it does not offer the same long, tangled decision space. In play it is about building, pushing lanes, managing unit counters, and keeping the pace moving. That makes Halo Wars: Definitive Edition a better fit for people who want a lighter RTS with a familiar Halo skin than for players hunting a giant, fussy war simulator. The Definitive Edition label also points to the version with the fuller treatment rather than the original release.
