Grimoire: Manastorm

Grimoire: Manastorm leans on spell-building and fantasy combat, so the draw is mostly for players who like tinkering with magic systems and party-based battles. By our assessment, it is an RPG for people who enjoy a more old-school feel, where menus, builds, and combat choices do a lot of the work. Its good side is the idea of shaping a caster around different magical tools, which gives it more personality than a plain dungeon crawl. The trade-off is that niche systems can also make a game feel rough or opaque if the interface and pacing do not land cleanly. In practice, this sort of game lives or dies on how satisfying the spell setup and fight rhythm are from one encounter to the next. Compared with cleaner modern RPGs, Grimoire: Manastorm sounds more specialised and more demanding of patience. It is a narrow fantasy system first, and the rest of it has to support that.
