Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising takes the anime fighting game formula and makes it more welcoming without stripping away the reading, spacing, and timing that give a fighter its bite. By our assessment, the cleanest strength is how it packages the basics of the genre so that new players can get into matches without drowning in motion inputs, while still leaving room for proper footsies and punishes. The downside is that the genre’s usual problem remains: if you do not enjoy learning matchups and losing to better timing, the whole thing can feel strict fast. In practice it is a game of short bursts, sharp decisions, and a lot of watching the other side for one bad habit. Compared with many traditional fighters, it sits on the friendlier end, with a presentation that is bright and polished rather than grim. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is strongest for players who want a modern fighter that teaches the basics clearly and still rewards discipline.
