Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective gives puzzle fans a sleeker kind of ghost story, one built around possession, timing, and tight scene-by-scene problem solving. By our assessment, what makes it memorable is how each puzzle asks you to move through objects and nudge events from the wrong side of the world, rather than just search a room for a key. The downside is that its structure is very specific: if you want open-ended investigation or a heavier mystery system, this is not that sort of game. In practice it plays like a clever stage machine, with lively animation and a constant sense that everything matters by a few seconds. Compared with standard adventure games, it feels more scripted and more elegant, but also more constrained. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a strong pick for players who like puzzle design that feels clean and inventive, and less so for anyone looking for broad freedom. Its best trick is that the story and the mechanics keep tripping over each other in a good way.
