Ghost Song leans on atmosphere first: it is a side-scrolling action-adventure with Metroidvania habits, built for players who want exploration, locked paths, new abilities, and a lot of quiet backtracking. By our assessment, its strongest point is the mood and art direction, which do a lot of the heavy lifting when the game is being sparse on direct guidance. The trade-off is that that sparseness can also feel dry, especially if a player wants sharper signposting or more immediate payoff from the combat. In practice it is the kind of game where the map, the route choices, and the slow accumulation of movement tools matter more than chatter or spectacle.
