Game Dev Studio

Game Dev Studio is about building a small game company, hiring people, picking projects, and juggling budgets, deadlines, and office space. By our assessment, its main strength is the way it turns studio management into a readable loop of choices, from production planning to the pain of bad scheduling. The downside is familiar to management sims: once the pattern is understood, repetition can set in and the spreadsheet side starts to show. In practice it asks for patience and a taste for systems, because progress comes from making a chain of sensible decisions rather than from spectacle. Compared with bigger business simulations, it is more focused on the day-to-day grind of making games than on grand corporate scale. Game Dev Studio suits players who like numbers with consequences and do not mind watching a studio grow one careful decision at a time.
