Front Mission Evolved

Front Mission Evolved shifts a famous tactical robot series into a more direct third-person action game, and that change is the whole story. By our assessment, the mech combat gives it a clear identity: heavy machines, cover, weapons loadouts, and a more immediate feel than the older grid-based style. The trade-off is that some of the series’ strategy weight gets traded away, so it will not satisfy people who mainly wanted the slower, planning-heavy Front Mission formula. In practice it is about moving a machine, lining up fire, and managing armour and position rather than studying a battlefield from above. It sits as the more action-forward branch of the franchise, useful if a player wants robots with real weight and less tactical bookkeeping. For that reason Front Mission Evolved works best as a spin on the series, not as the place to look for its classic brainier side.
