Freeways

Freeways is about drawing road links between highway ramps and keeping the resulting tangle from locking itself up. By our assessment, its best idea is that the puzzle starts looking simple and then turns into a small traffic knot once every lane is trying to cross the same space. The nice part is the clean read of the board: you can see the pressure build line by line, which makes each fix feel earned. The downside is also built in, because this is a very specific kind of spatial puzzle and it does not offer much beyond that one loop. In practice it feels brisk, slightly tense, and very much about planning a few moves ahead before the screen fills with crossings. Compared with ordinary route-building games, Freeways is leaner and more abstract, with less city-building and more pure traffic logic. It suits people who like small, sharp puzzles and not people who want story or variety.
