Fortified

Fortified is a tower-defense shooter with a pulp sci-fi look, built around defending a base while moving, shooting, and placing structures in the middle of an attack. By our assessment, the idea is neat because it mixes two familiar kinds of play and keeps the player busy on both the map and the trigger. The limitation is that the same mix can feel narrow once the novelty wears off, since the game relies on its central loop more than on broad variety. In practice it is the sort of game where you are always deciding whether to build, shoot, or scramble to cover another angle, and that constant juggling is the point. Compared with pure tower defense, it asks for faster reflexes; compared with pure shooters, it has more planning and less freedom of movement. Fortified is fine for people who want a short, brisk hybrid, but it does not try to be a deep strategy game or a long-running shooter.
