Final DOOM

Final DOOM pushes classic Doom play into a harsher, more punishing shape, with level design that expects constant pressure and sharp movement. By our assessment, what it does best is intensity: it keeps the pace mean, the maps crowded, and the player always adjusting. The downside is obvious too, because that same severity can feel hostile if you want the cleaner flow of the earlier games. In practice it is all about route-finding, ammo use, and surviving rooms that seem designed to punish hesitation. Compared with the original Doom, it is less welcoming and more demanding, but it also has a reputation for being one of the tougher old-school entries. It is for players who want classic shooter violence turned up and do not mind being tested hard, and it is not the friendly place to start if the series is new to you.
