Fate EXTELLA

Fate/EXTELLA turns the Fate material into a loud, flashy action game, and the appeal is mostly in seeing familiar names and heroes pushed into a musou-style crowd-clearing rhythm. By our assessment, it is best when it is simply letting the player cut through waves and keep the pace moving, because the action is direct and readable. The trade-off is that the structure can feel repetitive and the story-first value depends a lot on already caring about Fate characters. In practice it is a game of constant motion, with flashy attacks and a lot of command repetition between the bigger set pieces. Compared with the more tactical side of action RPGs, it is lighter and more focused on spectacle than on depth. Fate/EXTELLA is for people who want Fate fan service in action form, and it is much less convincing if that world means little to them.
