Fae Tactics

Fae Tactics uses the language of classic grid-based SRPGs: careful movement, spell range, party composition, and the satisfaction of turning small turns into a clean win. By our assessment, what it does well is make that old structure feel light and readable, with a fairy-tale style that keeps the battles from feeling clinical. The downside is familiar to anyone who likes the genre: when you do not enjoy positioning and turn planning, the whole thing can feel slow, and the game will not hide that fact. In practice, it is about checking tiles, managing abilities, and letting each map become a little puzzle. Compared with denser tactics games, it is less intimidating and usually easier to approach, but it also has less room to surprise people who want a huge tactical toolkit. It is a good match for players who want strategy without the weight of a giant war sim. The maps do most of the talking.
