Fadeout: Underground

Fadeout: Underground points toward a moody underground setting and the kind of action or stealth game that depends on atmosphere, movement through cramped spaces, and careful reading of danger. By our assessment, the title suggests a game that wants tension first, with darkness, concealment, and close quarters doing most of the work. The downside is that this style can be narrow if the level design or enemy variety is thin, because underground games live on repetition of corridors and pressure. In practice the appeal comes from moving through enclosed spaces and reacting to what is hidden just beyond view, not from wide-open exploration. Fadeout: Underground sounds closer to a niche action game than a broad adventure, and that makes it a more focused choice than a do-everything title. It is for players who like atmosphere and restraint, and it will not be a fit for anyone who wants bright pacing or open maps.
