Ex-Zodiac is a small, fast side-scrolling shooter for people who still want sharp ship movement and dense enemy patterns. By our assessment, it does the clean arcade part of the genre very well: quick retries, readable bullets, and enough pressure to keep each run alert. The trade-off is familiar too, because this kind of game lives on repetition and a narrow skill loop rather than big variety or story. In practice it asks for timing and pattern memory, then gets out of the way and lets the screen fill with motion. Compared with larger modern shooters, it is leaner and more direct, and that is exactly the point. It will suit players who enjoy classic shmup structure; anyone looking for long campaigns or deep systems will probably bounce off it.
