Ethereal Estate

Ethereal Estate sounds like the kind of title that belongs to a slower, more atmospheric game than to anything driven by constant action. By our assessment, that kind of ghostly property idea works best when the game uses spaces, puzzles, or story clues to make the setting feel strange rather than busy. The obvious limit is that this sort of premise can feel thin if the game does not have strong mechanics behind the mood. In practice, players usually expect wandering, uncovering rooms, and piecing together what the place is about. It sits closer to exploratory indie games and light mystery pieces than to mainstream action fare. The name is doing a lot of the work here, and the game has to earn that promise through atmosphere and structure.
