Escape From School

Escape From School uses a setting everyone understands at once, then turns it into a light stealth-and-puzzle game. The appeal is obvious: desks, halls, lockers, teachers, and the small panic of trying to move without being noticed. By our assessment, the idea works best when it keeps the rules simple and the layout readable, because that lets the hiding and timing do the work. The downside is that school as a setting can get silly or repetitive fast if the game does not keep adding fresh obstacles. In practice it has the texture of short, tense decisions rather than deep systems. It sits closer to compact escape-room design than to anything sprawling, so it is a better fit for players who want a quick stealth puzzle than for anyone expecting a large adventure. Escape From School is basically about reading the room and slipping past the obvious route.
