Eon Altar

Eon Altar is unusual because it splits the party work between the screen and individual phones, so the whole group plays a co-op RPG with hidden information, private choices, and a lot of table talk. By our assessment, that makes its strongest moments the social ones: it turns the usual couch session into something closer to a shared game-night puzzle. The cost is that the format depends on everyone staying engaged, because the hidden-role setup and phone-based control can slow things down if the group is impatient. In practice it feels like a cooperative campaign with a bit of secretive tension layered on top, and that is not a common shape for an RPG. Compared with standard local co-op games, it asks for more coordination and more patience, but it also creates a stronger sense that everyone has their own piece of the action. People who like group conversation and side glances at the table will get more from it than players who want pure action. Eon Altar is at its best when the group enjoys the social friction built into the system.
