Elemental Girls

Elemental Girls is the sort of game that usually speaks to fans of character collecting first and mechanics second. By our assessment, its draw is the roster and the themed presentation, which can make it easy to dip into if you already like this style. The downside is also typical of the format: once the collection hook is set, the underlying play often has to carry more weight than it can manage. In practice these games tend to be part menu, part routine, with lots of attention going to names, roles, and upgrades. It sits among gacha and team-building games rather than among systems-heavy RPGs, so expectations should stay there. Elemental Girls is for players who enjoy assembling characters and living with repetition; people looking for a tight, self-contained game may not find enough structure.
