Edge Of Eternity wants patience from the start, because it is a Japanese-style role-playing game built around turn-based combat, exploration, and a very big fantasy route. By our assessment, its strongest point is the scale of its world and the attempt to give the player long stretches of tactical combat and party management. The trade-off is that this sort of RPG can feel stiff and slow if the battle rhythm does not land for you, and the seams between ambition and execution are hard to ignore. In practice it asks for time with menus, positioning, and a lot of travel between story beats. Against the giants of the genre, it reads more as a sincere mid-sized effort than a heavyweight standard-setter. Edge Of Eternity is for people who like old-school JRPG structure and do not mind when the game spends its time.
