Eastshade

Eastshade gives the player paint instead of a sword, and that changes the whole rhythm of the game. By our assessment, it is an exploration game for people who like quiet wandering, talking to characters, and turning scenery into paintings rather than into combat victories. Its real strength is the calm pace and the way it asks you to notice color, distance, and composition as part of play. The trade-off is that there is little conventional challenge, so anyone wanting combat, hard failure, or fast escalation will feel the limits quickly. In practice it is slow movement, side quests, and sketching a world that wants to be looked at more than conquered. It sits apart from action-adventure norms and closer to a gentle walking sim with goals, and Eastshade keeps that identity very clearly in front of the player.
