ELEX

ELEX mixes a science-fantasy world with open-world action RPG structure, so it tends to attract players who like unusual settings, faction choice, and a rougher edge than most polished AAA role-players. By our assessment, its most distinctive quality is the collision of high-tech relics, magic, and survival-minded exploration in one broken landscape. The trade-off is that the same roughness shows up in combat and progression, which can feel awkward next to smoother modern action RPGs. In practice it asks for patience with its movement, its menus, and its odd mixture of systems that do not always feel elegant. Compared with the biggest open-world RPGs, it is less polished but also more eccentric, and that oddness is part of its identity. ELEX is for players who want a strange world and do not mind friction in the handling; if smooth combat matters more, there are easier places to go.
