ELEX II runs on the appeal of a big open-world RPG that lets you wander, fight, and build a character in its own rough, handmade way. By our assessment, the strongest part is the scale: camps, factions, exploration, and the freedom to move across a harsh sci-fi world give it a clear identity. The cost is equally clear, because the combat and movement can feel clunky and the whole game asks for patience before its systems settle in. In practice it is a lot of running, looting, talking, and slowly becoming strong enough to handle the world rather than being carried through it. Against slicker modern RPGs, it is less polished and more stubborn about its own style. It is for players who like chunky systems and open worlds with rough edges, not for anyone expecting clean combat or elegant pacing.
