Dread Hunger

Dread Hunger is a survival game built on distrust, with a ship, harsh weather, scarce supplies, and people trying to survive while one or more of them may be working against the group. By our assessment, its best idea is the social pressure: gathering fuel, cooking, repairing, and navigating are all filtered through suspicion, so every task can matter twice. The downside is that this kind of play lives or dies on the social mix of the lobby, and without that tension it can feel much flatter than it sounds. In practice it is slower than a straight action game and more anxious than a pure survival sandbox, because reading other players is part of the job. It sits between co-op survival and hidden-role deduction, which makes it more specific than many multiplayer survival games. The game works when the group understands the bluffing layer; without that, the cold weather is not the only thing that feels thin.
