Dragon Age II: Ultimate Edition is the full package for Bioware's compact city-focused fantasy RPG, with the base game and its additions bundled together. By our assessment, the game is strongest when it keeps the pace tight: party banter, combat that moves quickly, and a story that stays anchored in one city instead of spreading itself thin. The downside is just as famous, because the reused areas and narrower scope make it feel smaller than the first Dragon Age. In practice it is a dialogue-heavy party RPG with a lot of companion interaction and plenty of ability-based fights. It sits between Origins and Inquisition in style, but it is the most contained of the three, and that smaller frame is part of both its charm and its ceiling.
