Don't Be Afraid

Don't Be Afraid is built around first-person horror spaces, simple exploration, and the habit of making ordinary rooms feel unsafe. By our assessment, it can create a decent nervous mood when the layout and sound do the work, but it does not seem built for much beyond that single effect. The trade-off is clear: it keeps the systems spare, which helps the tension, yet leaves little room for depth or mechanical surprise. In practice it is the kind of game where you move carefully, watch your surroundings, and wait for the next scare rather than solve complex problems. Compared with bigger horror titles, it is lighter on systems and heavier on atmosphere, and that keeps it in the mid-tier range. Don't Be Afraid makes sense for players who want a short, direct fright rather than a long survival toolkit, and its ceiling is the same room-by-room unease.
