Dino D-Day

Dino D-Day takes the wild alternate-history joke of dinosaurs in World War II and turns it into a multiplayer shooter. Its biggest draw is obvious: the premise, the character classes, and the novelty of fighting with or against dinos give it a hook that many shooters do not have. By our assessment, that same joke is also the limit, because once the surprise wears off the game lives or dies on balance, maps, and the usual shooter fundamentals. In practice it sounds like a strange, chaotic match-based game where the theme does a lot of the heavy lifting. It sits far from serious military shooters and closer to novelty online combat, which is exactly why some players will enjoy it and others will bounce off fast. Dino D-Day is memorable in concept, but the kind of game it is still depends on whether the gunplay holds together.
