Deus Ex: Breach

Deus Ex: Breach takes the Deus Ex name and turns it into a small competitive spin-off built around hacking tiles and moving units on a grid. By our assessment, that makes it interesting as a tactical puzzle more than as a full sequel-style expansion of the series, and the appeal is mostly for players who enjoy short, turn-based decisions and the Deus Ex setting in a stripped-down form. The trade-off is obvious: the world-building and immersive sim feel that define the main series are pushed far into the background. In practice that means quicker, more abstract matches and less of the slow, character-driven infiltration the name usually promises. It sits closer to a side mode than to the core Deus Ex games, and that comparison is the whole point of it. It is a small, narrow idea, with the name carrying more weight than the format can easily support.
