Desktop Kanojo is a small desktop companion game, really for people who want an animated character sitting on the screen rather than a traditional goal-driven game. By our assessment, its main appeal is the novelty of putting an anime-style girl on the desktop and letting her react in a lightweight, toy-like way. That also defines the limit: it is thin as a game and depends almost entirely on the charm of the presentation. In practice it feels more like a digital desk ornament than something with systems to learn, so the appeal lives or dies on whether that kind of gimmick lands. It sits well outside mainstream games and closer to simple virtual pet or screensaver software. Desktop Kanojo works as a curiosity, not as a full game.
