Delver

Delver is the kind of first-person dungeon crawler people reach for when they want quick runs, simple controls, and the old pleasure of poking into dangerous rooms one at a time. By our assessment, it gets a lot right by staying lean: one hero, a dungeon, loot, traps, and a loop that makes each descent feel like a gamble. Its strength is that directness, because Delver does not waste much time on ceremony before asking you to move, loot, and survive. The downside is that the same plainness can feel limited once you want deeper systems or a bigger sense of progression. In practice it has the rough, immediate texture that makes roguelike dungeon games easy to return to for short sessions. Compared with broader dungeon RPGs, it is smaller and more stripped down, but that also keeps the focus on moment-to-moment risk.
