Deep the Game

Deep the Game asks for a bit of curiosity up front, because the title is so plain that the real draw has to come from the play itself. By our assessment, that kind of project usually lives or dies on atmosphere and a clear core idea, and the name suggests a game that wants attention more than noise. The downside is that something this sparsely titled can also be hard to read from the outside, so a player is often deciding on faith rather than on a strong promise. In practice, a game like this tends to matter most through its moment-to-moment structure, not through spectacle or a big list of features. Against louder indie titles, it sits on the quiet end of the shelf. Deep the Game is best approached by people who like unusual, low-key games, and it leaves little reason to bother if a strong pitch is needed first.
