Death Squared

Death Squared asks for quiet coordination, not speed, and that is what makes it more memorable than the average couch puzzle. By our assessment, it works best as a co-op game where two or more people have to move cubes through trap-filled stages without stepping on one another’s plans. The clean strength is the readable puzzle design: the rules are simple, but the room layout keeps forcing mistakes, corrections, and a lot of spoken timing. The downside is also obvious — if the group is impatient or uncoordinated, the repetition can turn from funny to tiring. In practice it has the feel of a small, neatly built logic toy that becomes much better when people talk aloud. It sits closer to local multiplayer puzzling than to action, and the whole point is the shared problem-solving.
