Deadlight is the kind of side-scrolling survival game that leans on silhouette, timing and awkward movement rather than on power fantasy. By our assessment, it does its best work when the player is sneaking past threats, climbing through wrecked spaces and dealing with the simple pressure of staying alive. The limit is that the play can feel rigid, because this sort of game lives or dies on how forgiving its jumps, pacing and enemy patterns are. In practice it asks for caution and repetition, and it is at its strongest when the mood of the ruined world is carrying the action. Compared with smoother modern platformers, Deadlight sits more on tension than flow. It is a mood-first survival platform game, not something built to feel quick or generous.
