Deadlight: Director's Cut is a side-scrolling survival-horror game that leans on silhouettes, jumps across ruined spaces, and a constant sense of being outmatched. By our assessment, its best asset is atmosphere: the cutout look, the dim streets, and the simple chase-and-hide structure give it a strong physical feel. The trade-off is that this style of horror is built more for tension than for freedom, so repetition and some roughness in movement can show through. In practice it plays like a careful run from one dangerous pocket to the next, with the camera and art doing a lot of the work. Deadlight: Director's Cut sits closer to a mood piece than to a sprawling survival game, and that narrowness is part of its appeal.
