Dead Island Retro Revenge

Dead Island Retro Revenge is a side-scrolling beat-’em-up with a gaudy, comic-book strip of zombie violence, and that is exactly how it should be read. By our assessment, its best trait is the blunt arcade rhythm: move forward, smash enemies, grab pickups, keep going. The downside is that this kind of game lives and dies on repetition, so once the joke and the lane-based fighting settle in, there is not much room for depth. In practice it feels like a short burst of old-school action rather than a broad survival game, which is also the main reason it stands apart from the larger Dead Island name. The game is for people who want simple, punchy movement and do not need systems piled on top. It is not trying to be the serious, open-ended part of the series; it works as a compact spin-off built around speed and impact.
