Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 is a zombie action game that leans hard on close-range combat, messy loot, and the bright, ruined-tourist feel of its California setting. By our assessment, its biggest strength is the combat model: weapons break, enemies lose limbs in very direct ways, and the whole thing has a tactile, almost slapstick cruelty to it. The trade-off is that the story and structure matter less than the moment-to-moment fighting, so it can feel repetitive once the novelty fades. In practice it is about scavenging, upgrading weapons, and getting through hordes with a grin that never quite turns serious. Compared with more oppressive zombie games, it is louder and more comic; compared with pure arcade brawlers, it still cares about gear and progression. Dead Island 2 is at its best when someone wants an action game with zombies in it rather than a survival horror mood.
