Dead Estate

Dead Estate makes its point with fast room-to-room shooting and roguelike resets. It is a top-down action game about clearing a creepy mansion full of monsters, so the appeal is the loop of running, picking up odd weapons, and trying again with better knowledge of the layout. By our assessment, its best feature is how brisk and readable the combat stays even when the screen gets messy. The downside is the usual one for the format: repetition is built into the design, and a bad run can end before it really gets going. In practice it feels twitchy, compact, and a little scrappy, which suits short sessions better than a long sit-down. Compared with bigger roguelikes, Dead Estate is lighter and more direct, with less systems to manage and more immediate shooting. It is a good fit for players who like quick retries and do not mind learning by failure, and a poor fit for anyone who wants steady progression every time.
